"Et tu, Brute?"

Ok, here's my thing:

What with my recent health scare and all, I decided that I'm going to take a long break from online RPGs. A sort of "rediscover real life" sabbatical. So I cancel my SWG account and rediscover the lost art of reading and such. I keep posting on one of the Smuggler forums because I enjoy all the Smuggler folks who hang around there. But, I'm done with MMORPGs for now.

Then I see this.

It's a online RPG set during the Roman Empire. It's set on a half-scale map of Europe during the reign of Commodus. There are no faires, no elves, no magic. There is also no monthly fee. The graphics are a little clunky compared to what the larger game companies are putting out, but....It's Ancient Freakin' Rome!

Man, they keep sucking you back in. I knew there was a reason the called Everquest "Evercrack". I'm going to have to weigh my options once this one comes out at the end of September.

/sigh

Nobody Loses On This One

The homeland of my forefathers has gone completely nuts. I mean the Norwegians are usually just mostly nuts, but in this case, I think somebody's gotten into the akavit.

Crazy Viking penguins...

Strange Things in my Noggin

I just got through a bad patch during this last week. For about a year now, I've had this pressure in my head. Not the kind of "Oh my God, I need to get all this work done by noon" kind of pressure. More like a "we're ready to perform the trepanation" kind of pressure. Like my already mighty brain has grown so large that it must be replanted in a larger cranium. I've been so busy with school that I sort of put my health on the backburner.

Last week, I woke up with some serious noggin problems. I was getting light-headed when I stood up, I was having trouble concentrating, and sleep was very, very difficult. So I finally cracked under the pressure and went to the health clinic to see if anyone knew what was wrong with me.

The doctor did some bloodwork on me and sent me to go get a CAT scan to see if there was something majorly wrong. Then I got to wait a week to find out if some strange shadow had decided to take up residence inside my head. If you every think life is passing you by too quickly, I strongly recommend waiting for medical test results. The past week lasted a relative seven months for me.

I went back to the doctor yesterday to see what the tests revealed and I got a good news/bad news result. The good news: my bloodwork and CAT scan came back clean, so I'm not expecting to shuffle off this old mortal coil anytime soon. The bad news: they don't know what's wrong with me.

So I'm on Claratin D for the next 20 days as well as some Vitamin B tablets. The hope is that this will clear up whatever it is that's bothering me. If not, they gave me the number of a neurologist up in Stony Brook to go see. I personally have a feeling that it might be my upper wisdom teeth, which are long overdue to be yanked, but not surprisingly, no one has asked me my medical opinion on these matters. I think they'd be even more unlikely to accept my second hypothesis.

Put Down Your Fishing Pole

And step away from the forge while you're at it! Otherwise you may face:

Dire Consequences!

That is all.
